Our Pastor
Pastor Larry and Marsha were missionaries in Sweden from 1985-2000 for the Baptist Bible Fellowship International in Springfield, MO. Before coming to Wichita, KS. to start Heritage Baptist Church he pastored:
- Evergreen Baptist Church, Evergreen, CO., west of Denver, CO.
- Grace Baptist Church, Morris, IL., just south of Chicago
Pastor Larry moved his family of 6 to Wichita, KS. July of 1995 to start Heritage Baptist Church with the help of the "Mother" church, Temple Baptist Church, El Dorado, KS. Pastor David A. Shaffer was the pastor of Temple at the time but is now pastoring in Findlay, OH. |
The Birth of Heritage Baptist Church
Heritage Baptist Church held their first service September 1995.
It became a reality because of two preachers with a God given vision through the Holy Spirit of
"What Is Not...But What Can Be!"
Dave Shaffer, pastor of Temple Baptist Church in El Dorado, Kansas telephoned Larry Olson, while pastoring in Illinois in April of 1995 to ask him if he would be willing to come to Wichita, KS. to start a church. It took Bro. Shaffer's desire to see a new church and Bro. Olson's pioneering spirit to come together, to pray, to sacrifice, to work hard, and develop a like-minded people who have one common thread... "the furtherance of the Gospel of Jesus Christ."
With the financial help of many fine churches across the United States and the pioneering spirit of the Charter Members, Heritage Baptist Church became a reality for time and eternity.
Today the church has many fine hard working, dedicated, fun loving members to do the work of the ministry.
The Lord continues to add to His church and we are always encouraged to help meet the needs of those He brings our way.
